Why Groups Need a GSR

Why does your group need a GSR?

  • The GSR is the link between the Group and AA as a whole
  • The GSR is the voice that gives the Group a voice in the affairs of the fellowship
  • When a GSR participates the Group’s voice is heard
  • When the GSR votes the Group’s conscience is heard
  • Bill W stated “The GSR is the most important role in AA”
  • The GSR is the channel of communication between the Group and the greater AA fellowship
  • Without a GSR your Group is on an Island

What does being a GSR entail?

  • Attend home groups faithfully
  • Regularly attend District meetings one a month (4th Sunday @St Gilberts, 6pm-7pm)
  • Regularly attend area assemblies (4/yr.)
  • Make basic reports to your group and convey thoughts, concerns or wishes from your group back to the District
  • Serve a contact for GSO to the Group (Directory Listing)
  • It doesn’t take much time 1 to 2 hours per month!
